Prerna Mewawalla, MD

Associate Professor
Drexel University

Dr. Prerna Mewawalla is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Drexel University College of Medicine and a hematology-oncology physician at Allegheny Health Network (AHN), specializing in plasma cell disorders and stem cell transplant. She serves as Medical Director of Apheresis at AHN, is on the Cancer Executive Committee and leads numerous clinical trials for multiple myeloma. Dr. Mewawalla is nationally recognized for her work advancing access to cutting-edge therapies, with a focus on translating complex innovations into safe, scalable, and community-ready practice. A recognized leader in equity and physician wellness, she is founder and chair of the Women Physicians ERG at AHN. Dr. Mewawalla also serves on the Board of Directors of the Allegheny County Medical Society. She has received multiple awards for clinical excellence and leadership, including the Pennsylvania Medical Society’s Healthcare Hero Award, recognition for outstanding dedication to patient care and the Eagle Award for research from USMIRC.
