Purna Garimella is Director of the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) at Indiana University, leading a large team supporting clinical research across multiple campuses and hospital systems. He previously served as Assistant Director at the University of Michigan Medical School’s IRBMED, where he led regulatory teams and oversaw more than 15,000 submissions annually.
With over 15 years of experience in clinical research and regulatory affairs, Mr. Garimella brings deep expertise in FDA-regulated research, IRB operations, and research compliance. He regularly presents on regulatory strategies for emerging technologies and serves as co-chair of the Human Subjects Research Committee for PRIM&R’s annual conference. He holds Certified IRB Professional (CIP) and RAC certifications, a Master of Science in Clinical Research Administration, and a Bachelor of Pharmacy.
