This session will explore the critical role of diverse representation in clinical trials and its impact on understanding biologic variability in drug response. By examining perspectives from various stakeholders, we aim to provide insights into how inclusive trial designs can lead to more effective and safer therapies for all populations. Historically, clinical trials have often underrepresented certain populations, leading to gaps in our understanding of how different demographics respond to treatments. This session will provide a comprehensive overview of the evolution of representation in clinical research, emphasizing the importance of capturing a wide range of biological responses. We will facilitate a multi-stakeholder panel discussion that includes insights from industry representatives, site/CRO professionals, community hospitals, and patients. This discussion will focus on the collective responsibility to ensure that clinical trials reflect the populations they aim to serve.
Learning Objectives:
Analyze the historical context and current state of representation in clinical trials.
Evaluate the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in enhancing understanding of biologic variability.
Formulate strategies for enhancing representation in future clinical research practices.
